Samantha Withers

Roping , Barrel Racing

Formally from Perth Western Australia, but now resides in the lower Hunter region of NSW with her fiancé where they have a farm of their own to run a small amount of competition horses and cattle.

Sam has been born into horses with her mother, being a renowned, professional jockey, both internationally and in Australia, although she didn’t follow her mother‘s love in racing, she grew a passion for Rodeo after her family purchased a trained trick riding/rope horse from their local newspaper.

“I started competitively riding when I was 9 years old through the West Coast Rodeo Association in W.A which seen me win many champion junior titles in barrel racing and breakaway roping. I left school at the start of year 11 when I was offered an apprenticeship as a Butcher/Boner at Linley Valley Pork abattoir in Perth Hills then at the age of 20 I wanted a career change, which found me a traineeship in Pilbara mines to become a multiskilled operator which was fly in / fly out from Perth on a 2.1 roster . My lifestyle hobbies of Rodeo quickly come to a pause due to the lack of spare time I needed to be able to put into my horses for the sparse rodeos that W.A had. In 2016, I made a decision that I wanted to follow my childhood dreams of moving over east and settling down in NSW to continue my passion for rodeos. I had secured myself a job at a local Mine in the Upper Hunter before I had even committed to leaving W.A in saying that 6 weeks was all that took from the time I flew back to W.A to packing my whole life up and driving over the Nullarbor with my 3 horses to NSW. It was the best decision I ever made.

I now share my love for rodeos, jackpot competitions, and the farming lifestyle with my fiancé Blayne & a desire to travel and compete in the near future with our family throughout Australia.

Stockman & Co become my first adult sponsorship offer who I have been with for just over 2 years. Jason and his team took me on as a sponsored rider with no major senior achievements to my name in NSW due to the very tough competition over here and I am extremely grateful for that which I hope to one-day return and take Stockman & Co to the National finals with me in the future.
